Smoke & Mirrors is a highly creative visual effects, animation, colour grading and post production company serving film, music and video industries from their offices in Soho, London.
Building Design Workshop undertook the following work;
a) Feasibility to extend the rear of the property, add another floor, and consultation with Westminster Planning Department,
b) Obtained Building Control approval to form a large opening in the existing brick wall at the rear of the property in order to link the main reception to refurbished offices behind.
c) Obtained Building Control approval to allow the removal of a spiral staircase to improve the layout of editing studio space.
d) Planning Application to enhance the appearance of the roof level.
The building behind was refurbished and the link and staircase removal was completed.
TAG Worldwide are a leading advertising company based in Clerkenwell.
In 2004, Building Design Workshop undertook a feasibility to extend the roof level, and consult with Islington Planning Department.
The extension was not implemented.
TAG Worldwide owned an unusual office building in the Charterhouse Conservation Area in Clerkenwell that did no longer suited their office needs was difficult to let as office space because of it's small and akward floor plates.
The previous planning consent for an additional residential floor had expired and Building Design Workshop submitted a Planning application for change of use and 2 additional floors to create 5 residential apartments in 2005.
The scheme was not implemented.
